Company Sales & Acquisitions was founded in 1989 by Matt Gumbley — a chartered accountant with a background in accounting, merchant banking and senior corporate roles, who went on to become a highly respected M&A specialist and business broker.

Over nearly 30 years, Matt built a firm defined by professionalism, trustworthiness and honesty. Both Clyth MacLeod and Glorianne Campbell shared a warm, collaborative and mutually respectful relationship with Matt over many years. When Matt decided to retire in 2019, he approached Glorianne personally and asked her to take on his company and his experienced team of brokers.
Glorianne embraced the opportunity. The merger combined almost 30 years of CSA's history and expertise with over 50 years of Clyth MacLeod's — a combined wealth of experience available to every client we work with today.

Our Fee's Clear and Transparent

We believe you should know exactly what you're paying and why, right from the outset. Here's how our commission works.

How our commission is calculated
The commission payable to Clyth MacLeod Business Sales for the sale of your business is calculated on the total sale price, on a tiered basis:

First, the sum of $800 plus GST, which covers AML/CFT compliance and contributes to the initial administration and marketing costs of your listing. This amount is payable immediately upon signing your Agency Agreement and is non-refundable.

Second, 8% of the first $1,000,000 of the sale price, as shown on the Sale and Purchase Agreement.
Third, 6% of the amount of the sale price from $1,000,001 up to $5,000,000.
Fourth, 4% of the amount of the sale price exceeding $5,000,000 (not subject to adjustment).

A minimum fee applies to the second, third and fourth tiers combined: the greater of the amount calculated above, or $18,750. Together with the $800 first-tier component, this brings the minimum total commission payable on any sale to $19,550, plus GST.
All amounts stated are exclusive of GST, which is payable in addition.

Our tiered rates reduce as the sale price increases — but that's not a reflection of reduced effort or motivation on larger deals. We're just as committed to achieving the best possible price for you, whatever the size of your business. We simply believe a tiered structure is the fairest way to price our commission.

Keeping it fair for smaller businesses too
We work hard to keep our minimum fee affordable and realistic for smaller businesses, while still allowing us to properly resource your sale. The minimum fee for any business sale with us is $19,550, plus GST — made up of the initial $800 AML/CFT compliance, administration and marketing fee, payable when you sign your Agency Agreement, plus the minimum fee of $18,750, payable on a success-fee basis on the unconditional date of sale.
