If you are experienced in the retail food sector taking on a premise that is currently not trading may well be a great option for you.


Do not be tempted by low cost entry to a premise. Do your homework and check the security of tenure, a lease with no fish hooks and good length of time available, usually a minimum of 6 years for a retail food premise. Rent, generally we believe rent should be around 6-8% of turnover. Higher than 10% and the business may not thrive so well.
